Role value proposition

The Edge Network Engineering team is responsible for the design, architecture, engineering, and optimization of current and emerging network technologies to support MetLife business in 40+ countries.  

Summary of responsibilities

As a Senior Network Engineer at MetLife, you will be responsible for contributing to the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless connectivity, security, and performance across our network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of network engineers to plan, design, and implement network solutions that align with business requirements.
  • Designing and implementing scalable, next-generation, high-performance network architectures, including LAN, WAN networks.
  • Monitoring network performance, diagnosing, and resolving network issues, and optimizing network configurations for maximum efficiency.
  • Managing network capacity planning and providing recommendations for network upgrades and enhancements.
  • Managing 6-8 medium, and/or 1-2 large network engineering initiatives simultaneously; Liaise with technology partners and vendors to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder involvement during the project lifecycle.
  • Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement within the network infrastructure.
  • Documenting network standards including configurations, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference.

Required:

  • Minimum of ten years of experience in network engineering roles, with a proven track record of progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, NAT, VPN, Wireshark, API, and network security best practices.
  • Working knowledge of next-generation (SDN) platforms.
  • Deep experience with Cisco or other leading network hardware vendors.
  • Expert skills in designing, managing, and troubleshooting enterprise-level networks.
  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Self-motivated with strong team-oriented and collaborative attitude.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills, including but not limited to Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, REST and other APIs.
  • Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google) architecture and integration experience a plus.
